The line was born in the wake of Hurricane Georges, which damaged the drying rooms at Chateau de la Fuente in 1998, leading Carlos Fuente Jr. to rely on aged Connecticut Broadleaf tobaccos, wrapped around a Fuente Fuente Opus X filler. The wrapper is aged for five years in cognac barrels, which gives the cigars their characteristic richness. The line also includes the famous No. 77 Shark, a rare vitola with a rounded head and box-pressed foot, recognized as the first torpedo to evolve from a rounded parejo shape to a square press. The line consistently receives scores around 90 in blind tastings conducted by Cigar Aficionado magazine, while the Reserva No. 55 achieved a remarkable score of 94 points.
